Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to lead our Ophthalmology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services, evaluating existing practices, and identifying areas for improvement.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, contributing to the safe and effective use of complex medicines within Ophthalmology. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff.

Main Responsibilities
  • To work closely with nursing, medical, and administrative staff to ensure the safe and effective use of high-cost biologic and non-biologic medicines within Ophthalmology.
  • To attend weekly multidisciplinary meetings and clinically screen medication for patients attending the outpatient infusion suite or receiving medicines directly at home.
  • To co-supervise the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in the Ophthalmology and Neurosciences rotation and participate in weekend working, including pharmaceutical care of acutely unwell medical patients.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy and Higher Degree - Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering training and education at postgraduate level, as well as clinical supervision of others.
  • The ability to implement NICE guidance and other commissioning policies, deliver medicines optimisation, and review directorate drugs budgets.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £70,000-£90,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, annual leave, and access to training and development opportunities.
