Property Maintenance Operative

About the Role
As a Handyvan Maintenance Operative with South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a vital role in providing essential building repairs and maintenance services to households, schools, and commercial properties across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a wide range of building repairs, including plumbing, carpentry, flooring, painting, and decorating, fencing, decking, shelving, and tiling.
- Conduct minor works maintenance services in schools and commercial buildings, focusing on plumbing, carpentry, window and door repairs, glazing, drainage, and painting.
- Assess work environments, including costing and invoicing for completed work.
- Ensure all work meets required standards, complies with statutory requirements, and maintains professional standards for staff and customer safety.
- Maintain accurate records of work activities, communicate effectively with external contractors and suppliers, and ensure value for money for the organization.
Requirements
- Hold a working knowledge and experience of property maintenance, with a focus on safe working practices and Health & Safety legislation.
- Have experience of face-to-face contact with the public, demonstrating competency in customer care.
- Be able to meet timebound deadlines, financial targets, and costs in an operational team.
- Proficiently use a variety of hand and power tools associated with the building trade and have experience with mobile working technologies.
- Hold a good level of literacy and be able to interpret information in various formats, including ICT systems, maps, and specifications.
- Hold a driving license and CPC to category C1E with no restrictions.
Desirable Qualifications
- Hold a trade qualification, ideally a City and Guilds.
