Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal/Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Peregrine. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing expert mechanical engineering support for the design and development of new innovative designs.
Key Responsibilities- Design Authority: Provide technical direction and leadership to other engineers and technicians to develop ideas into detailed schemes supported by calculations and reports.
- Product Design and Development: Generate design concepts and solutions from first principles to meet project and customer requirements.
- Technical Governance: Check and approve datasets (drawings/MBD) to ensure they meet required standards and reflect design intent correctly.
- Design Risk Management: Identify, define, and manage work packages to de-risk areas of the product design early in the lifecycle.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Work collaboratively across all engineering disciplines, manage the work of senior and junior mechanical engineers and technicians, and take technical responsibility for design solutions and technical data packs.
- Education: Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of other qualifications and experience.
- Experience: Comprehensive experience of the full product design lifecycle, from concept through to production, within an engineering environment.
- Skills: Competence in the use of CAD tools, experience in preparing technical datasets, and ability to use specialist dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis tools.
