Eden Blake Recruitment is delighted to partner with a long-standing client in finding a new Head of Procurement & Commercial. This exciting opportunity involves transforming a tactical purchasing function into a high-performing strategic procurement operation.

The ideal candidate will have a background in public sector procurement, a knack for getting people onside and bought into their vision, and a proven track record of delivering results.

  • A base salary of £75,000 per annum
  • Private medical cover
  • 5% matched pension contribution
  • 25 days holiday
  • Hybrid working, 2-3 days on site to begin with, reducing to 1-2 after circa 6 months
About the Role:

You'll be taking the lead on the transformation of an existing procurement function, moving it from a transactional/tactical state to a high-performing strategic operation. The senior leadership team believes procurement can deliver more and are giving their full backing to facilitate the change needed.

You'll lead a small team of direct reports to ensure efficient, cost-effective procurement of all goods and services needed by the organisation. Elevating supply chain management is key, working closely with suppliers to increase their value to end-users.

The upcoming changes to the Procurement Act provide a real opportunity to redefine and implement process and procedural changes. You'll need to build outstanding relationships with internal stakeholders/end users to ensure they're aware of the benefits and support delivery.

Through this transformation, there's a desire for increased commercial acumen within the business and significant improvement to the commercial position relating to services received from suppliers and those provided to customers.

You'll also look at industry innovations and advancements to keep the business correctly positioned regarding suppliers and products.

About the Client:

You'll join a well-established, successful private sector consultancy (on a permanent contract) as the Head of Procurement & Commercial in one of their key clients based in Manchester. The client provides housing to tens of thousands of tenants across the North West and is pushing to modernise its procurement operations.

The consultancy has a great reputation in the industry and a proven track record of developing their people through coaching and industry-recognised training qualifications.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience of leading strategic procurement activity in a regulated environment using PCR2015/FTS/OJEU
  • A highly engaging personality and ability to build strong, influential relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience managing high-value, high-risk or strategically important public or private sector procurement projects
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering savings, improved efficiencies and successful negotiations and partnerships
  • Natural, motivational leader with strong interpersonal skills and experience in developing teams
