About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to join our team at Biffa Waste Services. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management and governance of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Governance Framework: Develop and maintain a robust data governance framework that aligns with our business and analytics strategy. Advocate for the principles, structures, and processes of the framework, and ensure its effective implementation across the organization.
  • Team Engagement: Foster collaboration and engagement among the Data Governance team, data owners, data stewards, and the Data Governance Board. Ensure that all stakeholders are working effectively and that the necessary artefacts and processes are in place to support their roles.
  • Data Quality: Design and implement a data quality approach that ensures the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data assets. Collaborate with data stewards, business, and technical experts to design future processes and application requirements.
  • Master Data Management: Develop and maintain a Master Data Management approach that ensures the effective management of our data assets across the organization. Work with local business teams, transformation, and central technical teams to implement this approach.
  • Enterprise Data Governance Tools: Implement enterprise data governance tools to ensure that all data lineage and information definitions and standards are up-to-date and available to appropriate audiences.
  • Training and Communication: Ensure that all roles and people impacted by data governance are considered for training, communication, and engagement. Provide the technical content necessary to support their understanding of data governance.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience running a data governance program or team
  • Knowledge of data standards and quality frameworks
  • Experience with data lifecycle frameworks aligned to regulation
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview
