About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Decontamination Services Assistant Technician to join our team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our Decontamination Services department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient processing of medical devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures, and Quality Management System.
  • Reprocess reusable medical devices under supervision, including disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, checking, assembling, sterilizing, dispatching, and tracking in a controlled environment.
  • Meet the demands of the department's workload while consistently achieving high-quality standards, measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports.
  • Use manual dexterity and concentration for the disassembly and reassembly of reusable medical devices in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
  • Operate decontamination equipment, including washer disinfectors and sterilizers, and carry out routine tests in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule, Quality Standards, and Guidance.
  • Communicate with enquiries from users in a polite and helpful manner, seeking advice when required.
  • Receive tray orders from service users, assemble orders into theatre case carts, and deliver to theatres in a timely manner to ensure theatre lists can commence as scheduled.
  • Deliver urgent products to Theatres/Departments as necessary.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • NVQ2 or equivalent level of knowledge/or GCSE English, Maths, and Science at grade C or above.
  • Desirable:
    • Working in a quality-controlled environment.
