About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Technician to join our Decontamination Services team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining and processing medical devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures, and Quality Management System to ensure the efficient and effective processing of medical devices.
  • Reprocess reusable medical devices under supervision, including disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, checking, assembling, sterilizing, dispatching, and tracking in a controlled environment.
  • Meet the demands of the department's workload while consistently achieving high-quality standards, measured by in-process checks and non-conformance reports.
  • Operate decontamination equipment, including washer disinfectors and sterilizers, and carry out routine tests in accordance with Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule, Quality Standards, and Guidance.
  • Communicate with users in a polite and helpful manner, seeking advice when required, and receive tray orders from service users, assemble orders into theatre case carts, and deliver to theatres in a timely manner to ensure theatre lists can commence as scheduled.
  • Deliver urgent products to Theatres/Departments as necessary.
  • Participate in rostered Bank Holiday work and cover shifts as necessary for the provision of the service.

Person Specification

  • NVQ2 or equivalent level of knowledge /or GCSE English, Maths, and science at grade C or above.
  • Working in a quality-controlled environment.
  • Working within a Quality system and Standard Operating Procedures.
