Mechanical Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Manager to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise for planned and reactive maintenance solutions on large, complex, and sensitive projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance for planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical assets.
  2. Supply Chain Management: Oversee the maintenance supply chain, ensuring all works meet quality and compliance standards.
  3. Safety and Compliance: Ensure the estate is safely maintained, adhering to relevant legislative and regulatory provisions.
  4. Project Scoping: Lead the scoping of reactive maintenance projects, assessing options to deliver best value for money.
  5. Design Solutions: Design solutions for planned works, including technical specifications, layouts, and working drawings for mechanical services.
  6. Contract Management: Assist in contract management, supporting decisions on maintenance delivery, and validate contractor work through site checks.
Skills and Knowledge:
  1. Maintenance Assessment: Ability to assess maintenance works across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with statutory and quality requirements.
  2. Technical Expertise: Detailed, up-to-date knowledge of building legislation, statutory requirements, Health and Safety standards, and CDM regulations.
  3. Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance: Extensive technical expertise in mechanical and electrical maintenance, including diagnosing system defects and specifying remedial works.
  4. Design and Documentation: Strong ability to prepare design documents, technical specifications, and manage tender/contract documents.
Experience Required:
  1. Operational Experience: Operational experience in project management, building maintenance, or estate management, ideally within the public sector.
  2. Contract Management: Proven experience in contract management or procurement.
  3. Technical Review: Demonstrated ability to review and assess technical specifications and designs.
Additional Requirements:
  1. Driving License: Must hold a current driving license and have access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
