About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Band 5 School Nurse to join our team in Essex, working as part of the Healthy Family Team. As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering the Healthy Child Programme, assessing health needs, developing packages of care, and working closely with SCPHN School Nurses.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in our community. You will work alongside experienced professionals, providing universal School Nursing services to support aspects of child/young person development and health from transition into school up to the age of 19 (25 for SEND).

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Healthy Child Programme, including assessment of health needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of packages of care.
  • Work alongside SCPHN School Nurses to provide comprehensive School Nursing services.
  • Contribute to the development of a supportive team environment, providing leadership and acting as a positive role model.
  • Undertake mentorship responsibilities for pre-registration students and provide preceptorship to support new staff members.
  • Participate in regular safeguarding supervision and have opportunities for continued professional development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for improving health outcomes for children and families, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
