Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing and developing a pipeline of high-value new business opportunities to drive profitable growth for the Specialist Services division. This role requires a senior business development professional who can tailor and develop successful total waste management solutions for the UK manufacturing sector.
The Business AreaThe Biffa Specialist Services division focuses on delivering total waste management solutions to the UK manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of the Chemical & Pharmaceutical sector, although this is not essential.
Key Responsibilities- Propose strategic solutions that encompass continuous improvement, cost saving, best practice, and environmental sustainability
- Develop and manage a detailed pipeline and CRM system
- Create and present tailored commercial offerings to potential clients
- Work closely with existing operational and account management teams to deliver the ideal solution for the client at agreed profit levels for Biffa
- Sales and development experience, with 3 years or more experience in a comparable field-based business development role
- Agile, solutions-focused development skillset
- Experience of developing, managing, and implementing new business services
- Waste industry knowledge, including relevant laws, would be advantageous
- Proven track record in sales, selling high-value contracted services (the role is focused on accounts worth £500K+ per annum)
- Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships
- Computer literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
