Supporting Children as a SEN Tutor

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) tutor with Teaching Personnel, you will have the opportunity to support children and young people in a 1:1 setting outside of mainstream schools. This flexible role is ideal for qualified teachers or those confident teaching English, Maths, or Science up to GCSE level looking for a change of pace.
This SEN tutor position involves working with children at their homes or local areas, such as libraries, to provide face-to-face support. You will plan resources tailored to each child's needs, focusing on developing their knowledge in subjects like Maths and English through educational learning. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Keeping children engaged with tasks and ensuring they can access the learning
- Managing and implementing behaviour strategies
The location for this role may vary depending on the child's needs, but all pupils are based in the Northampton and Milton Keynes area. As a SEN tutor, you will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver engaging core and cross-curricular sessions
- Apply skills to get pupils' education back on track
- Check that pupils are meeting their desired learning outcomes and provide feedback
- Experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
