About the Role

We're seeking a junior derivatives lawyer to join our team, focusing on supporting our EMEA equity derivatives trading desks. As a key member of our team, you'll work extensively with colleagues in our broader global banking and markets legal team, as well as stakeholders in investment banking, sales and trading, compliance, and operations across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

  • Advising trading businesses on regulatory, documentation, risk management, and cross-border legal issues
  • Analysing the legal and regulatory impacts of cross-border products, including innovative algorithmic indices, hedging and financing structures, and market access products
  • Advising on the interpretation and practical impact of regulatory reforms on the equities business
  • Assisting with the structuring, negotiation, and drafting of transactional documents, including coordination with external counsel
  • Providing equity product expertise internally in the legal division and across the firm on regulatory implementation and business change projects

Requirements

  • At least 2 years post-qualification relevant experience in a law firm or in-house
  • Some derivatives experience is essential, with specific equities knowledge being helpful but not a requirement
  • Familiarity with the regulations relevant to derivatives and/or equity markets
  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to develop in the team, learn about our businesses, and effectively identify legal and regulatory issues
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively, be proactive in a challenging business environment, and respond to client demands in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders
