The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal / Associate Director Town Planner within our Town Planning team in Birmingham. You will join our Planning and Environment Team at a company dealing with an impressive range of projects.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping and assessing the case for development projects, including determining planning strategies, preparing planning applications and appeals, site appraisals, community consultation, planning project management, coordinating various technical teams, proposal preparation, and business development activities.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Determine planning strategies for development projects.
  • Prepare planning applications and appeals.
  • Conduct site appraisals.
  • Foster effective community consultation.
  • Manage planning projects from start to finish.
  • Coordinate technical teams to achieve project goals.
  • Develop proposals and engage in business development activities.
  • Liaise with landowners, developers, architects, and local authorities.
  • Provide expert advice on planning and land use matters.
  • Supervise and advise team members.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Chartered Town Planner qualification or related degree.
  • Experience in preparing planning applications for the public and/or private sector.
  • Excellent analytical and written skills.
  • A strong team working ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and ideally some GIS experience.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills.
  • A full driving license.
