Indirect Tax Manager Job Description

A leading leisure and travel business based near Heathrow, West London, is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join their finance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end VAT return process, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, and providing expert advice on tax-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the monthly VAT return process for two UK VAT Groups
  • Oversee the HMRC relationship and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
  • Provide expert advice on tax-related matters, including contract reviews and VAT treatment of sales and purchase transactions
  • Contribute to finance and commercial projects, and provide input on new business initiatives
  • Review key areas of the business and provide recommendations for ongoing controls and risks review work
  • Monitor and implement changes in indirect tax legislation
  • Provide VAT training to the business
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in VAT compliance and advisory roles within a commercial context
  • Strong understanding of indirect tax compliance processes, particularly in the UK
  • ACA/ACCA/ATT/CTA qualified (or equivalent) with 3-4 years post-qualification experience in VAT
  • Strong team working and influencing skills, with experience managing junior team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with key stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze data effectively and good attention to detail
  • Commercially minded and capable of providing clear, considered advice
  • Strong IT skills, especially Excel
What We Offer:

The Finance Manager - Indirect Tax role comes with a base salary of up to £83,000, bonus, comprehensive benefits package, and hybrid working (3 days in office per week).
