Portfolio Estimating Manager

This role is an exciting opportunity to join Leonardo UK as a Portfolio Estimating Manager. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital part in shaping the future of our business.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to lead our estimating efforts across multiple portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing complex estimating models, managing the day-to-day workload of our existing costing team, and advocating for process improvement to drive efficiencies within the team.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support advanced estimating models to inform future bid decisions.
- Manage the daily activities of our existing costing team, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting.
- Promote process improvements to enhance team productivity and efficiency.
- Present estimating requirements to internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Consolidate inputs from various lines of business to ensure comprehensive estimating.
- Analyze data to support affordability and pricing discussions with key stakeholders.
- Maintain adherence to company standards for pricing and estimates.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of estimates throughout their lifecycle.
- Look ahead to long-term funding requirements, identifying opportunities for growth and development.
- Support the Tender Vetting process, providing expertise and guidance where needed.
Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of estimating processes and methodologies.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in creating complex estimating models.
- Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and self-manage your workload.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- An understanding of economic variables that may impact long-term pricing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present and challenge at various levels of the organization.
- An analytical and logical approach, with a strong desire for continuous improvement and personal development.
- A proactive and dynamic mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively and recognize, develop, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and dashboard tools (Power BI).
- Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies (lifecycle management).
- Knowledge of change management and continuous improvement tools and techniques.
- Understanding of industry-standard portfolio program delivery, project control methodologies, and governance.
- Proven risk management capabilities.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary of £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including health insurance, pension scheme, and annual leave.
