Job Title: Junior Composite Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Composite Design Engineer to join our team at Aston Martin F1 Team. As a key member of our Composite Design group, you will be responsible for the design, testing, and development of composite components for our racing cars.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the provision of design schemes from concept stage for component design, assemblies, and associated jigs, patterns, and tooling.
  • Surface components and define laminate specification booklets.
  • Provide follow-up support on projects during assembly and testing and development.
  • Assist in the provision of practical solutions to resolve issues arising from testing and development.
  • Proactively participate in developing, implementing, and improving design concepts.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings as required.
  • Work proactively, responsibly, and professionally at all times.
  • Maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard and maintain thorough and current working knowledge of composite design.

Requirements:

  • Educated to Bachelor's or Master's degree level in Mechanical, Automotive, or Motorsport Engineering or related field.
  • Preference will be given for any specific studies relating to Composite Engineering.
  • Experience of producing high-level design schemes and detailed drawings of complex CFRP assemblies to a demanding schedule, preferably in a motorsport/high-performance sector.
  • Experience in the use of 3D CAD systems, ideally with knowledge of CATIA and knowledge of both solid and surfacing modeling techniques.
  • Basic working knowledge of CFRP component design, including material selection, laminate specification manual creation, cure and bond requirements, tooling strategies, jigging requirements, etc.
  • Possess an innovative and flexible approach to creative problem-solving, new disciplines, and environments.
  • Proven record of working in a collaborative environment, communicating effectively, and progressing multiple projects concurrently.
