Job Title: Chef de Rang

At Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef de Rang to join our team. As a key member of our restaurant staff, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run a section of the restaurant to a high standard, ensuring excellent service and attention to detail.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability in working various shifts, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Set up the restaurant before dinner service, adhering to the table plan and ensuring a smooth start to the service.
  • Understand the menu and any necessary amendments for allergens, providing accurate information to guests.
  • Communicate effectively with the management team and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service.
  • Process food orders and payments efficiently using EPOS.
  • Take drinks orders and process them accurately on EPOS.
  • Prepare tea and coffee to guests' requirements, presenting them with a smile.
  • Present and explain the wine list to guests, showcasing our extensive selection.
  • Seat guests confidently, explaining the menu and service standards.
  • Serve dishes with confidence, using the correct explanation from the kitchen.
  • Call away dishes efficiently, ensuring timely delivery to guests.
  • Clear tables with elegance, maintaining a clean and tidy environment.
  • Read guests' needs and expectations, adapting your service accordingly.
  • Understand and follow safety procedures, ensuring the well-being of guests and colleagues.
  • Represent the restaurant in a positive manner, promoting a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Communicate clearly with guests, managing their expectations and providing accurate information.
  • Take pride in your uniform, maintaining a high standard of presentation.
  • Set a good example for commis waiters, demonstrating excellent service skills.
  • Understand food hygiene and its importance in every aspect of the restaurant.
  • Support colleagues in their roles, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Be first aid trained, ensuring you can respond to any emergencies.
  • Recognize Love & Laughter guests and treat them with the special attention they deserve.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar establishment, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with the kitchen team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the restaurant.
  • Food hygiene qualification is essential.
