Job Title: Chef de Rang

Join our esteemed team at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House, a proud member of Relais & Châteaux, as a Chef de Rang. This role requires a high level of skill and enthusiasm, with a focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run a section of the restaurant to a high standard, ensuring seamless service throughout the guest's dining experience.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability in working various shifts, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Set up the restaurant before dinner service, adhering to the table plan and ensuring a smooth start to the evening.
  • Understand the menu and any necessary amendments for allergens, ensuring accurate and safe food preparation.
  • Communicate guest issues with the management team and kitchen staff, providing excellent customer service.
  • Process food orders and payments efficiently using EPOS.
  • Take drinks orders and process them accurately on EPOS.
  • Prepare tea and coffee to guests' requirements, demonstrating attention to detail.
  • Present and explain the wine list to guests, showcasing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Seat guests confidently in the restaurant, explaining the menu and service standards.
  • Serve dishes confidently, using the correct explanation from the kitchen and ensuring a high level of presentation.
  • Call away dishes to the kitchen in an efficient manner, maintaining a smooth service flow.
  • Clear tables with elegance, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for the next guests.
  • Read guests confidently, understanding their tableside manner and expectations.
  • Understand and follow safety procedures, ensuring the well-being of guests and colleagues.
  • Represent the restaurant in a positive manner at all times, adhering to the high standards of Relais & Châteaux.
  • Communicate clearly with guests, managing their expectations and providing accurate information.
  • Take pride in and maintain the uniform provided by Source, ensuring a professional appearance.
  • Set a good example for commis waiters, demonstrating excellent service standards.
  • Have a good understanding of food hygiene and its importance in every aspect of the restaurant.
  • Support other team members in their roles, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Be first aid trained, ensuring the well-being of guests and colleagues.
  • Recognise Love & Laughter guests and treat them accordingly, providing exceptional service and attention to detail.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar establishment, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with the kitchen team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the restaurant.
  • Food hygiene qualification is essential, with a strong understanding of allergens and their potential effects.
Benefits:
  • Salary: £27,495 to £31,005
  • Gratuities allocated on a points basis, with average levels projected at £153 to £460 per month.
