About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Headteacher to lead our brand-new SEN school, Benton House School, in Newcastle. As a key member of the Acorn Education team, you will be responsible for providing effective leadership and management of the school, ensuring it meets its aims and objectives and operates within the overall strategy and guidelines of Acorn Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding educational outcomes for pupils and young people, reflecting their needs, abilities, and aptitudes.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment that protects the welfare of pupils, young people, and staff.
  • Ensure the school meets all statutory requirements, achieving the highest inspection ratings possible.
  • Lead a motivated and engaged staff group, committed to excellence in all areas of school life and continuous personal and professional development.
  • Drive the commercial success of the school, with a focus on 100% occupancy, cost management, and growth plans.
  • Develop and implement effective strategic and operational planning, including self-evaluation, school improvement, and delivery.
  • Foster a shared vision that aligns with the Acorn Group strategy, inspiring and motivating students, staff, and the wider school community.
Requirements
  • At least three years' experience as a senior leader in a specialist school for pupils with complex communication needs.
  • Qualified Teacher Status or Equivalent.
  • Willingness to extend personal and professional development.
  • Ability to lead and provide a clear vision.
  • Appreciation and understanding of the leadership and management of a school, encompassing processes contributing to pupil outcomes, staff motivation, keeping pupils safe, filling the school with pupils, managing costs, meeting regulatory requirements, and applying growth plans as appropriate.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Completion of NPQH.
  • Experience of conducting performance management.
  • Experience of appointing, managing, and inducting staff.
  • Experience of planning the curriculum across a range of ages and abilities.
