As a member of Manchester Digital's Economics and Analytics Group, you will be part of a dynamic, international team of experts in applied microeconomics, data analysis, and finance.



The group provides thought leadership, technical expertise, and economic insights to shape policy and decisions. We are looking for talented economists with expertise in competition and regulation economics, policy evaluation, behavioural economics, financial economics, or quantitative skills.



About the Role

As an Economic Consultant, you will collaborate with economists, data analysts, policy professionals, market researchers, technologists, and lawyers on projects spanning various sectors. Your key responsibilities will include providing high-quality economic analysis, gathering and assessing robust data and evidence, and identifying and solving complex issues using evidence-based methods.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide high-quality economic analysis on projects, exploring different perspectives, and addressing key policy issues.
  • Gather and assess robust data and evidence to support your analysis.
  • Identify and solve complex issues, using evidence-based methods to gather insights and develop solutions.


Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in applied microeconomics, gained through training in relevant specialisms. Experience applying economic concepts in real-world scenarios within a consultancy, regulator, competition or consumer authority, government department, academia, research institute, or regulated company is essential. A degree in economics is required, with a postgraduate qualification desirable but not essential.
