Midlothian, United Kingdom The University of Edinburgh Full time
Job Opportunity

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a highly qualified individual to join its academic team as a Fellow in Contemporary Muslim Societies. This is a three-year fixed-term position ideal for a person recently qualified to PhD level or a more established scholar looking to develop their research, teaching, and outreach skills and experience.

About the Role

The Fellow will conduct research into the contemporary social, political, and religious dynamics of a key region or regions of the Muslim world. We are particularly interested in researchers with regional expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia, as well as transnational perspectives that cut across global geographies.

The Fellow will contribute to the Alwaleed Centre's teaching activities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a particular focus on the Centre's MSc The Globalised Muslim World programme. The fellow will also contribute to the research outputs and visibility of the Centre by developing their own research and collaborating with colleagues on shared projects and endeavours.

Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Strong publication track record
  • Ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Ability to engage non-academic audiences
What We Offer

We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and particularly welcome applications from members of minority ethnic groups, who are currently under-represented in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures.

Please note that while the School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures operates with a hybrid working model, teaching is delivered in person and on campus.
