Clinical Specialist Role:

We are seeking a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to fill the position of Clinical Specialist in Neurodevelopmental Assessments. In this role, you will work with children and young people referred for autism and/or ADHD assessments via NHS Patient choice and their GP.

As a Clinical Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive specialist assessments, including diagnostic assessments of individuals with suspected autism and/or ADHD using established diagnostic tools. You will also write up assessment reports in a timely and professional manner, as well as provide appropriate recommendations and interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive specialist assessments, including diagnostic assessments of individuals with suspected autism and/or ADHD
  • Write up assessment reports in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide appropriate recommendations and interventions
  • Supervise and support junior staff members (depending on experience)
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
  • Experience in conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental/specialist developmental assessments with children and young people
  • Experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate assessment tools for autism and ADHD
  • Experience in report writing and record keeping
  • Additional qualifications in relevant areas of autism and/or ADHD
