Job Title: Children and Young People's Community Nurse

This is a senior role within the Integrated Care Board's safeguarding team, responsible for ensuring the effective discharge of statutory safeguarding responsibilities across the ICB and the wider Integrated Care System.

The post provides strategic safeguarding leadership and expert advice to colleagues, senior managers, and board members, ensuring that safeguarding standards and statutory responsibilities are met, and children in Kent and Medway are protected from harm.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the ICB complies with safeguarding duties under relevant statutory laws, including the Children Act (2004) and the Children and Social Care Act (2017).
  • Work across the local health system to support professionals in safeguarding children, providing advice and support to health commissioners, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with adult safeguarding designated nurses and provide support and advice to clinicians in continuing healthcare cases.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Substantial clinical experience in safeguarding/child protection, with an understanding of legislation and forensic medicine.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation and court systems, with the ability to advise and support other professionals.
