About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operational Specialist - Health and Safety to join our team at Scottish Water. As a key member of our Capital Investment Programme, you will play a critical role in improving Health and Safety (H&S) performance and fostering a strong, positive H&S culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert, cost-effective H&S advice, coaching, and guidance to internal stakeholders and construction partners.
  • Interpret legislation, industry-approved codes of practice, and best industry practices to ensure compliance and meet the highest standards.
  • Oversee every phase of construction projects within our Capital Investment Programme, ensuring Scottish Water meets its responsibilities under the Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, leading efforts to improve H&S performance and foster a continuous positive culture.
  • Investigate incidents and share lessons learned to prevent future occurrences.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the construction and/or utility industry, particularly in project and risk management practices and controls.
  • Understanding of relevant H&S legislation and guidance, especially the CDM Regulations.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate/NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
  • Ability to make decisions based on analysis of information and confident use of Microsoft Office and similar software.
