Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook food and drinks for residents, adhering to high standards of quality, safety, and presentation.
  • Work closely with the Chef to ensure efficient and effective food service operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, including making sandwiches, garnishes, and sauces.
  • Deputise for the Chef as required, including cooking evening meals and breakfasts.
  • Support Resident Support Assistants with plating and presentation of food for residents.
  • Conduct daily compliance checks on temperature controls, food labelling, and allergens.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, hygienic, and well-maintained, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Assist with stock management, rotation, and ordering.
  • Safely close down the kitchen at the end of the day, removing food waste and preparing for the next day.
Requirements:
  • Food hygiene qualification level 2.
  • Good standard of general education, including GCSE maths and English.
  • Experience working in a care home environment.
  • Experience working in a catering environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of good food hygiene practices.
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles.
Desirable:
  • Diploma (or NVQ) level 2 Catering/Food Service or equivalent.
  • Experience supervising a team.
