Chief Pharmacy Technician

The successful candidate will join a dynamic Pharmacy Production team and be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of all technical staff in the Production Unit. This will involve ensuring services are delivered in a safe, effective, economic, and timely manner.
Key Duties- To assist the Lead Cancer Services Pharmacist in the management and development of production services both sterile and non-sterile.
- To be responsible for the management of the technical aspects of aseptic dispensing to ensure that all products are made to the highest quality enforced by GMP and QA systems.
- To ensure the Production Unit is maintained in good working order and that all directives are met.

Requirements- NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification.
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Current GCP training.
- Attendance at relevant study days/courses related to sterile production.
- Knowledge of principles of Good Manufacturing Practice and its application in an unlicensed aseptic unit to a high level.
- Evidence of effective interpersonal skills with particular ability to liaise with multidisciplinary team members.
- Ability to demonstrate self-motivation.
- Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise.
- Evidence of commitment to customer care initiatives.
- Computer Literacy (e.g., Microsoft Word and Outlook) and use of pharmacy computer system (JAC).
- Ability to deal with conflict/difficult situations.
- Significant experience post qualification in hospital including within an aseptic service.
- Knowledge of GMP, QA, GCP, COSHH and Health and Safety at work.
- Experience of managing staff and leading a team.
- Experience of supervising and delivering aseptic chemotherapy services.
- Experience of delivering education and training.
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in writing SOPs, policies and procedures.
- Experience of investigating incidents and managing risk.
- Aware of current legislation and professional ethics and practice, including the provision of section 10 aseptic services.
- Reliable, Self-motivated.
- Able to set realistic goals and outcomes and use these to motivate themselves and their team.
- Able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work on own initiative or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates initiative, and motivation & enthusiasm for the post.
- Commitment to continuing personal development.
- Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues and how personally can make a positive difference to this agenda.
