Theatre Practitioner and Surgical First Assistant

Job Summary:
This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse to take on a leadership role as a Senior Theatre Practitioner and Surgical First Assistant in our prestigious private hospital. As a key member of the surgical team, you will be responsible for ensuring high standards of care during a wide range of surgical procedures.
The ideal candidate will have extensive scrub experience across various specialities, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality perioperative care and support positive patient outcomes.
We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 per annum, plus benefits such as complimentary lunch, 35 days of Annual Leave, private healthcare, and on-going training and professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field to ensure all surgical procedures are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
- Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures across specialities to deliver high-quality perioperative care and support positive patient outcomes.
- Provide skilled assistance as a Surgical First Assistant (SFA) during procedures, ensuring the surgeon has the support needed to perform efficiently and effectively.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures to ensure a smooth workflow, preventing delays and enhancing the efficiency of the operating theatre.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with valid registration.
- Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification and experience assisting surgeons during complex procedures.
- Extensive experience as a Scrub Practitioner in a range of surgical specialities.
