Fleet and Maintenance Controller Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to assist in the operations of our fleet and workshop. Our Client runs a fleet of 20 highways maintenance vehicles, and we need someone who can be an all-rounder in helping with different departments across the company.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate vehicle inspections and maintenance activities
  • Resolve vehicle defects and breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs and minimizing downtime
  • Manage our job management software, uploading jobs to drivers' tablets, handling stock control, and actioning defects
  • Assist the mechanic with workshop management, including assigning tasks and ensuring a safe working environment
  • Purchase and manage vehicle parts, fuel, and other supplies as needed
  • Liaise with drivers regarding vehicle defects and general wellbeing, assisting with holiday requests
  • Manage specific contracts, such as those with Heathrow Airport, including applying for ID passes and vehicle passes

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to progress to a Transport Manager or Operations Manager role. The position is mainly office-based in CM22, with occasional site or customer visits.

Requirements:

  • Strong IT skills and ability to learn new software
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and trucks is preferred, but not required
  • Clean driving license is essential

Salary will be dependent on experience.
