We are seeking a skilled Physicist or Engineer to contribute to our Engineering Design group at NPL. Our team is responsible for the design and preparation of manufacturing systems and instruments for both internal and external use.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing new metrology systems using numerical simulation, mathematical modelling, and experimental verification.
  • Providing expert insight to our design teams and science groups on Heat-Transfer, Fluid-Flow, and other physical phenomena.
  • Maintaining and designing products and systems safely, adhering to best practices and governance processes.
  • Participating in cross-discipline design discussions with electronic and mechanical hardware design teams.
  • Preparing design documentation for product life-cycle management.
  • Peer reviewing design and documentation produced by other NPL engineers.

As a Higher Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and delivering technical activities to achieve demonstrable impact. You will acquire additional knowledge to identify and analyse complex problems and develop solutions.

We are recruiting across levels and welcome applications from candidates with varied experience. Salary and offer will be based on experience.
