About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our team at O'Hanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd. As a key member of our Electrical Division, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the commercial aspects of electrical projects, including due diligence, subcontractor appointments, and claims/payments.
  • Review and liaise with internal operations on subcontractor/specialist monthly claims/payments, following internal procedures.
  • Negotiate and agree budgets and costs for variations on project scope.
  • Prepare, issue, and monitor monthly client valuations.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and raise/resolve queries where necessary.
  • Attend pre-contract meetings and liaise with clients, specialists, and internal operations/procurement teams.
  • Visit sites to price variations, monitor, and review supply chain performance.
  • Work with finance to advise on and reconcile actual and forecast costs to budgets.
  • Oversee commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Support business development and tendering teams where required.
  • Liaise with estimating teams in handover of awarded projects to the contracts team, BOQ, and budgets.
  • Own monitoring project drawings to ensure all updates/changes are captured, reported, and priced to clients.
  • Monitor schedules/programs against labour performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements
  • Hold a relevant degree or relevant qualification, or be a qualified electrician with relevant experience, or have quantity surveyor experience within construction.
  • Have good IT skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Hold a full driving license.
  • Have a strong understanding of construction contracts and relevant regulations.
  • Have electrical contractor experience/knowledge and technical knowledge of electrical installations ranging from domestic to large commercial/industrial.
