We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as Director of Climate Change and Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce our carbon footprint.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy management, sustainability, and climate change. They will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team to achieve ambitious targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce our carbon footprint.\
  • Lead a team of professionals to achieve ambitious targets.\
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for reducing energy consumption.\
  • Manage and develop all aspects of the procurement of energy.\
  • Support the delivery of a capital program to reduce operational emissions.\
  • Take ownership of our emissions reporting and contribute to the delivery of projects within our Climate Action Plan.\
  • Provide strategic and policy advice to members and senior officers.\
  • Lead on the procurement and contract management of our corporate energy contracts.\
  • Work with external partners to secure funding for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.\
  • Oversee the expansion of our renewable energy generation and district heating portfolio.\
  • Maintain up-to-date expert knowledge of legislative, technical, and policy changes in energy generation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate change.\
  • Actively promote equalities issues through the application of our equalities practices and procedures.\

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
