About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Family Support Worker to join our Initial Response Team in Bury. As a key member of our team, you will work alongside Social Workers to support families and those around them to meet children's needs and achieve great outcomes.

The post offers the chance to contribute to high-quality service delivery, develop strong partnership and cross-service working, and innovate and build on good practice. Our Initial Response Teams are fast-paced, lively, and interesting, and we are looking for Family Support Workers who are proactive, adaptable, and passionate about ensuring that children and families in our area receive a positive and timely first experience of our service.

About You

We want to invest in you and have a clear vision around succession planning for our most talented workers. At the heart of everything we do are the children and young people of Bury. We want staff who can form relationships, see the strengths in families, and build on those assets, always looking for solutions to support families to live together safely and for children and young people to thrive.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills, which will enable them to undertake effective family engagement, building on a family's strengths and coping strategies, incorporating a strong degree of challenge for families to change, supporting and enabling them to resolve multiple and complex difficulties leading to sustainable change.

Previous experience of working with Cared for Children and their families in a social care environment would be an advantage.

You will need to have good knowledge of Child Development, Attachment theories, assessing parenting capacity, and the importance of promoting and managing supervised Family Time.
