About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to lead our Confectionery category. Reporting to the Director of Trading for FMCG, you will be responsible for purchasing and supplying all products within the category.

As a key member of our Buying Team, you will cultivate and nurture relationships with suppliers to ensure we can offer customers amazing products at an amazing value. Your strong communication and negotiation skills will be essential in negotiating costs and delivery timescales in line with company budget and KPIs.

You will also be responsible for visiting factories to develop ranges, negotiate the cost of goods, and exploring new markets in developing countries/economies. Your ability to work to tight deadlines and manage your own workload will be crucial in meeting the demands of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchasing and supply of all products within the category from conception to the bottom line
  • Ensuring products are in line with current and future trends
  • Cultivating and nurturing relationships with suppliers
  • Negotiating costs and delivery timescales
  • Visiting factories to develop ranges and negotiate costs

Requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in buying
  • Previous experience of leading, coaching, and developing a team
  • Previous experience and willingness to travel overseas
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Good numeracy and Excel skills
