About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Kirkby Community Mental Health Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to adults with psychosis and other severe mental illnesses.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, a strong understanding of bio-psycho-social perspectives, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to lead and develop excellent practice in the field, contribute to the development of the service, and be actively involved in the critical evaluation of its effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment for patients
  • Supervise and support team members who carry out assessments of patients referred to the team
  • Act as team responsible clinician for the purposes of the Mental Health Act 2007
  • Contribute to clinical and medical leadership within the Recovery Team
  • Liaise closely with General Practitioners (GPs) and other services, teams, and agencies within the Borough and within the Trust
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
