Kent County Council is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Pedestrian Safety Trainer to join their team.

About the Role

This part-time position offers flexibility and autonomy, allowing you to work on a zero-hours contract and choose your own schedule. You will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of pedestrian training schemes to primary schools in your area, working closely with the Project Officer and schools to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

  • You will manage the day-to-day running of the Small Steps programme and other associated initiatives in your local district, ensuring smooth operations and successful outcomes.
  • Conduct risk assessments of suitable training sites within walking distance of schools, identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate them.
  • Develop and deliver engaging Pedestrian Training sessions to groups of children, using interactive and educational approaches to promote road safety awareness.
  • Maintain accurate records of training delivery, monitoring progress and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with parent volunteers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering a sense of community and social responsibility among participants.
  • Promote the Small Steps project at events and activities, highlighting its benefits and encouraging participation.
  • Comply with KCC's policies and guidelines, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
