Job Opportunity: The University of Edinburgh is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead an internationally competitive research programme in primary care and related areas in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

About the Role: The post holder will play a key role in building the profile of general practice at Edinburgh, through close engagement with undergraduate students and GP trainees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver internationally excellent research in primary care and related areas.
  • Attract substantial research funding from competitive sources.
  • Lead interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborations to address major societal challenges.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching in a research-intensive context.
  • Engage in high-level research and strategic planning.

Requirements:

  • A medical degree, a qualification in General Practice/Family Medicine (MRCGP or equivalent), and a higher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent).
  • An outstanding track record of research in both reputation and publications.
  • Leadership and managerial skills, particularly in multi-disciplinary contexts.
