About the Role

The Senior Sustainability Director will play a critical role in driving DLA Piper's responsible business and sustainability strategy, working closely with the Director and team to refine and implement the firm's ESG strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned ESG professional to join our team and contribute to the development of sector-leading ESG reporting, stakeholder engagement, and operational change.

Main Responsibilities
  • ESG Strategy and Operational Change
    • Work with the Director and team to develop and implement the firm's ESG strategy, focusing on operational change and stakeholder engagement.
    • Lead key ESG project delivery, including the development of sector-leading ESG reporting and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
    • Support the Director and team in organizing regular ESG and responsible business updates for senior management.
    • Develop and maintain close working relationships with internal stakeholders, including the responsible business and pro bono teams.
  • ESG Data Management and Reporting
    • Manage the ESG analyst/senior analyst to ensure sector-leading ESG data management across the firm.
    • Work with the risk management and compliance team to collate and report sustainability data.
  • Responsible Business and ESG Development
    • Develop and deliver more ambitious roadmaps and delivery against our material issues.
    • Work with the RB social impact manager and pro bono team to develop leading measurement and evaluation of programmes.
  • Internal Awareness and Understanding
    • Support the wider team to raise internal awareness and understanding of ESG and responsible business.
About You

We are seeking a responsible business and ESG leader with experience developing and implementing RB and ESG strategies. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience managing high-profile, fast-moving ESG operational projects.
  • Knowledge of ESG and responsible business reporting, and development of measurement frameworks.
  • Excellent project management skills, able to lead and report on project delivery.
  • The ability to influence and catalyze change to improve ESG and RB performance.
  • Demonstrate stakeholder management communication skills.
  • Maintain an ambitious and innovative approach to responsible business and ESG.
  • Able to work with internal teams, including procurement, operations, HR, risk management, IT, and lawyers.
  • Commercial, creative, and pragmatic thinking about improving ESG and RB practices.
  • Experience in dealing with a demanding workload and conflicting priorities.
  • The ability to stay calm and composed in often demanding situations.
  • Relevant technical and education qualifications, including a degree or advanced degree in relevant fields.
