Urology Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Urologist to join our multidisciplinary team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. As an Emergency Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will work alongside a friendly and expert team, participating in the top tier of the 24/7 urology on-call rota. You will work independently, caring for patients with urological complaints, conducting a mix of emergency and elective procedures.

As part of our team, you will contribute to audit and governance, supporting the training of junior medical staff and other staffing groups. You will also participate in the Urology Cancer MDT and deliver clinical and quality targets agreed nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To participate in the top tier of the 24/7 urology on-call rota.
  • To work independently caring for patients with urological complaints, conducting a mix of emergency and elective procedures.
  • To participate in audit and governance, supporting the training of junior medical staff and other staffing groups.
  • To carry out appropriate administrative duties in support of clinical commitments.
  • To be a core member and participate in the Urology Cancer MDT.
  • To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.

Person Specification:

  • Mandatory qualifications: MBBS, MbCHB or equivalent medical qualification, MD or PhD.
  • Entry criteria: Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register in Urology via one of the following:
    • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury, which are located 20 minutes' drive apart.

Salary: £85,000 - £115,000 per annum, depending on experience.
