The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our team on a staff basis. The successful candidate will have a background in nuclear or defence and will be located in either Warrington, Manchester or Cumbria with a hybrid working model.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids.
  • Develop design solutions to agreed time, cost, and quality in accordance with project or business milestones.
  • Understand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Produce documentation required to support the design review process, including diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications.
  • Ensure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management.
  • Ensure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual, and local business processes, standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Review relevant supplier documentation and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriately.
  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.

Requirements
  • Experience of full lifecycle engineering.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Design Justification Reports.
  • Technical presentations.
  • Attending factory acceptance tests.
  • An in-depth understanding of at least one of the following areas: Instrumentation and control system theory including PID control, Electrical circuits design, EMC precautions and power supply characteristics, Safety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511, Machinery Safety and UKCA Marking, PLC programming, Fieldbus technology (Profibus/Profinet).
