Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Junior/SHO/ST1-2 to join our team in Emergency Medicine at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the initial assessment, investigation, and management of patients attending the ED. They will work in different areas of the department, including Resus, Majors, Paediatrics, and the ED Observation Bay.

The appointee will also be responsible for arranging admissions and preparing electronic discharge summaries as appropriate. They will ensure that records of patients in their care are accurate, up-to-date, and legible, and signed.

Supervision will be provided by either Consultants or Specialty Doctors in Emergency Medicine. The appointee is expected to attend weekly departmental teaching sessions, participate in audit, governance, and research activities, and develop their portfolio.

The role requires the ability to cover for absence of colleagues, including on-call cover, at short notice. The duties and responsibilities may need further discussion in the future to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the service and the post holder.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initial assessment, investigation, and management of patients attending the ED
  • Working in different areas of the department, including Resus, Majors, Paediatrics, and the ED Observation Bay

  • Covering for absence of colleagues, including on-call cover, at short notice

Requirements:

  • Valid GMC registration
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Minimum of 3 months paid experience in the NHS/UK
  • Clinical attachment complete
