SEND Teaching Assistant Job Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate individual to fill the role of a SEND Teaching Assistant at TeachMatch in Manchester. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have severe Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning and participate fully in the classroom environment.

The Role
  • Deliver one-to-one and group support to students with severe SEN, tailoring plans and activities to meet their unique needs
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement learning plans, promoting student independence and confidence
  • Provide physical support and assistance with personal care and mobility needs as required
  • Use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior and manage emotions effectively
  • Record and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and respect within the school community
  • Nurture strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration
  • Support the implementation of strategies to promote student independence and confidence
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school day, assisting with classroom routines and general support
Requirements
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Experience working with children with severe SEN (preferred, but not essential)
  • A strong commitment to helping and supporting students in every aspect of their school life
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff
  • A flexible and positive attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • The ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • A passion for delivering high-quality education and supporting student success
  • Desirable: relevant qualifications or training in SEN or teaching
