About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Service Designer to join our team at NHS England, responsible for developing and supporting a service design function across several services centred around trainee management and recruitment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enact the service designer role, recommending tools and promoting activities.
  • Work within an agile environment, applying service design knowledge to real-world applications.
  • Develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.
  • Incorporate evidence-based research to develop user-centred designs to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Communicate ideas, concepts and designs clearly.
  • Describe and evolve the end-to-end journey through TIS and other trainee services.
  • Line manage a small team of user researchers and business analysts who are embedded within product/service teams.

Our team is responsible for supporting and developing a range of products and services that help users manage the administration of NHS trainees and learners.

Requirements
  • Significant service design experience.
  • Developing and leading a service design function.
  • Engaging with users and understanding their needs.
  • User-centred design.
  • Digital delivery, such as aligned to the Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Standards.
  • Agile working.
  • Communications to a wide and variable audience.
  • Building and maintaining key relationships.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Change management.
