Museum Caretaker

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Cleaner/Caretaker to join our team at the Corinium Museum. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our premises, ensuring that our visitors have an enjoyable and safe experience.

• Conduct daily inspections of the interior and exterior of the building to ensure cleanliness and identify any defects or malfunctioning equipment.
• Perform cleaning tasks, including operating floor machines, and maintain the museum's hard floors.
• Monitor and change lightbulbs, and ensure that the external emergency exit pathway and external stairs are kept free of debris and algae.
• Carry out general maintenance and repair tasks, including painting, and report any defects or issues to the Director.
• Ensure that Health & Safety issues are strictly adhered to, and monitor cleaning supplies and order new supplies as required.
• Cover cleaning duties when the second cleaner is absent, and attend training courses and complete all necessary Health & Safety requirements.

• Good knowledge of buildings maintenance and safeguarding of premises.
• Ability to work as part of a team, and a calm manner, self-motivated and resilient.
• Ability to use initiative and think creatively and flexibly.
• Ability to safeguard premises and grounds, and monitor cleanliness and safety of premises.
• Practical problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will work 9 hours per week, Monday to Saturday.
