Job Description:

The Financial Operations Specialist - Dredging Projects will be responsible for linking finance and operations, acting as a financial business partner for the project management team. This individual will work closely with Project Managers and the Head of Business Sector Managers to produce, analyse and present accurate financial information.

This includes financial data for smaller subsidiary companies that have a direct link to the projects. The Financial Operations Specialist will use this information to aid in decision-making processes and complete monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate will also assist other managers in the department to ensure compliance with relevant tax, payroll and employment regulations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial and administrative setup of dredging projects.
  • Liaise with the estimating team to prepare project work budgets.
  • Monitor project progress and prepare the monthly financial Budget Control Reports (BCRs).
  • Communicate the story behind the numbers and explain the financial effects of decisions.
  • Review and code purchase invoices for approval.
  • Control postings, journal entries and ledger accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Indicate and report opportunities, risks and deadlines/contractual obligations.
  • Analyse and report on project financials, including variances from budget and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure project compliance with internal policies and external laws and regulations.
  • Be the initial point of contact for project financial queries.
  • Actively communicate with other departments to share lessons learned and best practices.

Requirements:

  • A relevant financial qualification, such as AAT or CIMA finalist.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of taxes, including VAT, CT and PAYE.
  • Knowledge of CIS is preferable.
  • Right to Work in the UK.

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 per annum based on experience and qualifications.
