About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Defined Benefit Transition Consultant to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our Pension Risk Transfer business, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing transition plans for Defined Benefit pension schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement scheme-specific transition plans to ensure a smooth and efficient transfer of pension benefits.
  • Analyse scheme benefits and data to draft legal agreements that accurately reflect the benefits secured.
  • Perform first-line peer reviews to ensure that team members have the correct benefit specification and data to guarantee accurate benefit entitlement and scheme funding.
  • Take responsibility for the progress of allocated schemes, including regular reviews and prompt responses to customer communications.
  • Support the new business origination team and Transition Managers by providing advice on administration capabilities and attending site visits to gather data.
  • Ensure timely communication and maintain a full audit trail of benefit and data items throughout the onboarding process.
  • Assist in the delivery of continuous improvement across PRT Client Services by providing relevant MI as required.
  • Ensure internal customers and third parties are kept updated on key information impacting their processing to enable fair treatment of end customers.
  • Support the ongoing development of the team by providing training and support to less experienced members.
  • Provide customers with tailored information to understand what is being communicated, including any necessary action or advice.
Requirements
  • Pension qualification such as CII or PMI (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of pension regulations for DB schemes, including a detailed understanding of de-risking requirements.
  • Understanding of benefit structures and administration in Defined Benefit schemes.
  • Ability to manage tight timescales, prioritise work, and escalate if necessary.
  • Ability to provide an accurate and cost-effective service by getting things right first time.
  • Strong understanding of risks faced by the team/business and a desire to actively reduce these risks.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience of project management highly beneficial.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly customer-focused with the ability to maintain and improve relationships with internal and external customers.
