About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Galliford Try. As an Estimator, you will be a key member of the preconstruction team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders to satisfy client requirements and ensure the company secures adequate new business to achieve targeted turnover and profit levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare enquiry schedules and liaise with the procurement team in the selection of appropriate companies from whom quotations should be sought.
- Obtain sufficient quotations to enable valid commercial judgements at the tender finalisation meetings.
- Provide all information necessary to enable the review of the conditions of contract, insurance, bonds, and warranties.
- Produce analytical rate build up information for Bills of Quantities in an accurate and well detailed format.
- Continually refine analytical cost data derived from feedback.
- Identify and analyse opportunities to give a commercial advantage to tenders.
- Identify and analyse risks and produce a risk register for each tender.
- Prepare preliminary cost estimates.
- Preparation of commercial documents for tender submission.
- Attend tender finalisation meetings, present all relevant cost information, and complete the tender as instructed.
About You:
- Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of estimating process utilising a computerised analytical estimating system Conquest.
- Experience in risk management techniques.
- Previous relevant business experience or transferable skills gained in other areas.
- Equivalent of Level NVQ or Certificate Level qualification. Graduate entry point.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative attitude.
- Influencing, negotiation and delegation skills.
- Critical analysis and decision-making skills.
- Manages time efficiently, plans and prioritises work activities.
- Understanding of Conditions of Contract and Specifications.
- Commercial awareness and technical knowledge.
- Aware of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adheres to company health and safety policy and procedures.
