Electrical Project Manager

Ecotricity is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to join our Generation Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the development, design, and installation of new renewable energy projects, including solar farms, wind farms, gas plants, and battery storage.
The role involves supporting the Lead Electrical Project Manager in taking generation projects from concept to final design and build. This includes management and assessment of feasibility and design development, management of tenders and contract negotiations, and management of feasibility studies, quotations, and design proposals for construction.
You will also be responsible for providing technical support to other business units within Ecotricity, including the O&M team and the Smart Grids and Trading team. This will involve technical support for electrical infrastructure, grid interfaces, control and instrumentation, and grid services, compliance, and metering.
The ideal candidate will have a higher education qualification in an electrical engineering discipline and experience in the design and operation of electrical equipment and distribution systems. You will also have knowledge of wind turbines and solar PV installations and their control systems, including HV and LV transformers, cables, switchgear, and SCADA.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the overall electrical design development from concept to detailed, using contractors and specialists as necessary
- Providing project management during the construction phase, including adherence to health and safety, compliance with the contract, technical oversight of the design and construction, and resolving risks and issues
- Preparing drawings such as SLDs and schematics to support both operational sites and development projects
- Carrying out site technical surveys
- Identifying and managing design risks and communicating to stakeholders
- Traveling to sites as required and ensuring an onsite presence during the development and construction phases
- Assisting the planning team with technical input
- Regular reporting and updating to the Head of Generation, highlighting risks, issues, and impacts and providing recommended solutions
