Senior Substance Misuse Specialist

Our client, a specialist Children's Charity, is seeking a Senior Substance Misuse Specialist to lead on the service operational response to vaping of illegal drugs in Plymouth.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the wider substance misuse team to develop knowledge and skills related to vaping and assist team members in providing support for children who are vaping.
- Contribute to policy development/refinement at city, school, and settings level.
- Deliver support and intervention to children and young people who are vaping illegal drugs.
- Ensure close working relationships with schools (all phases), police, youth service, trading standards, PCC targeted support, and CSC.
- Develop effective collaboration with the vaping role within the youth service.
- Train, coach, and support multi-disciplinary professionals to increase knowledge, awareness, and competence to respond to vaping by children and young people.
- Act as a credible ambassador promoting the aims of the organization and championing the rights and welfare of children and young people in the region.
- Maximize opportunities for young people to grow, have influence, and find a voice through empowerment and participation in the service and wider society.
- Act as a referral service to medical treatment or adult treatment services.
- Provide advice, support, consultation, and training to relevant staff.
- Contribute to the delivery and development of the Young Person's Substance Misuse Plan and Young Person's Alcohol Action Plan.
- Participate in and be an active member of the young person's substance misuse team.
- Collate and monitor relevant data in line with local and national requirements.
- Work within child protection and safeguarding guidelines and procedures.
- Actively pursue equality of access to services and operate within a framework of anti-discriminatory practice and equal opportunities policy.
- Contribute to the development of services for young people.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of working with young people.
- Experience of substance misuse (drugs and alcohol) and awareness of national and local initiatives.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice process, specifically in relation to young people.
- Knowledge of child/adolescent development and young person-centered interventions.
- Full driving license with own vehicle.
- Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service.
