Job Summary

We are excited to announce a rare opportunity for Support Workers to join our team at The Lighthouse in Lancashire. The Lighthouse is a 4-bedded child and adolescent mental health unit based in Darwen, Lancashire. Our service aims to provide a step-down from child and adolescent mental health inpatient units, offering a unique and supportive environment for young people to thrive.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, adhering to and enhancing professional standards of care.
  • Maintain a holistic approach to patient care, developing and implementing treatment programmes and behavioural programmes for children under the supervision of a registered nurse and psychologist.
  • Participate in all aspects of care, planning and organizing therapeutic activities for children, and ensuring the safety of all children on the unit is maintained at all times.
  • Lead on the recreational, therapeutic, and educational programme for children, both inside and outside of the service, including supporting teachers during lessons and planning therapeutic and recreational activities.
  • Act as a key worker for children under the supervision of a registered nurse, including home visits and school visits, completing admission procedures, attending CPA reviews and discharge meetings, and providing reports as necessary.
Person Specification
  • Essential: You must either have or be working towards an NVQ level 3 qualification.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in working with children and young people, a passion for working with children and young people, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of care, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
