Development Underwriter Opportunity

HFG Insurance Recruitment is working with a leading Lloyd's MGA to find a talented Development Underwriter to join their growing team in the West Midlands area.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter with 5+ years of commercial combined underwriting experience to take on a Development Underwriter role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting and a passion for developing relationships with key brokers in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Broker Relationships: Operate collaboratively with key brokers to increase new business activity and build positive relationships.
  • Underwriting: Review and underwrite new business quotations across all products within the underwriting appetite, including any queries within SLAs.
  • Broker Visits: Undertake regular visits to broker offices to increase brand awareness and establish contacts.
  • Escalation Point: Be an escalation point for key brokers and provide support as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Liaise with the Technical Underwriting Team and key stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning: Regularly communicate with Business Development Managers and Regional Directors to develop and maintain broker relationships and strategic planning.
  • Referral Point: Act as a referral point for underwriters within the wider team.
  • Customer Service: Work closely with the underwriting team to ensure all work is completed within SLAs and maintain high levels of customer service.
  • Compliance: Operate in accordance with the Underwriting License provided and utilize the Underwriting Guide.
  • Initiative: Take initiative to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals.

This is a home-based role with occasional visits to the London Office when necessary.
